A Czech Republic-based firm Pin-Up Houses has come up with the off-grid container home ‘Gaia’. It is one of the experimental self-sufficient builds. However, it completely depends on green energy and nature. In other words, this 20ft shipping container equipped with the latest technologies that harness solar energy, wind energy, and retain rainwater.

So, no more relying on external sources of power or water. This project was designed by Joshua Woodsman who is the founder and main architect of the Pin-Up Houses. That is to say, the construction of this little storage container house takes almost three months and costs US$21,000.

Moreover, it is tiny in size but features a convertible sofa-bed, refrigerator, water heater, complete kitchen, bathroom, tons of storage cabinets, and a retractable outdoor terrace. Above all, the entire house is made from the marine HC 20‘ / 6 m container. Also features spray foam insulation, spruce plywood interior, and wooden studs. Above the roof, there is a galvanized corrugated metal sheet that adds extra protection to the house.

likewise, the sheet will increase the rainwater catchment area and fill the 1,000-IBC tank quickly. The batteries of the house can be charged seamlessly with the help of a solar panel and wind turbine. Also, the battery level and the charge status can be tracked by using a mobile app. Further, the stored rainwater can be filtered and used in the kitchen and bathroom.
