A Gold coast, Australia based empty nesters Jan & Kev decided to go tiny once their last child left the house in 2006. Moreover, they want to spend the rest of their life in a less-complicated way with some financial freedom. Their spacious tiny house designed to be completely off the grid. Surprisingly, they have decided to construct the house on their own without any building skills and experience.
However, with a little help from the friends and their eldest daughter they have complete the build. The construction process takes 7 months to complete and costs almost $60,000 AD. Meanwhile, you may have heard their story before. Because their eldest daughter Lauren has already introduced them to the famous youtube channel called ‘Living Big In a Tiny House’.
Can honestly say nothing has been challenging about our tiny house, it’s brought more to our lives than we could have imagined!

Their tiny house located in Gold Coast, Queensland with some billion-dollar views around. And they have been living in this house for 2 & half years. Above all, this tiny dwelling is based on a 10m x 3m off-grid trailer. It also features a steel frame with color bond, fibro cement clad, solar panels, and a 5000L rain-water tank.

Jan & Kev have expanded their lounge area by adding the Eco board deck in front of the house. That is to say, they are having some additional outdoor living space when the family getting together. With the solar panels and water tank, the house is completely off-grid and doesn’t require any connection services. “Get a bigger water tank if you live in a low rainfall region,” said Jan.
The couple always wanted to do something they really love. So they start their own business by turning a vintage retro caravan into a juice and smoothie bar. Jan & Kev work together at the weekends while enjoying the astonishing lifestyle on the weekdays with two adorable dogs!
